"Glantrenfawr", the name of the house where Thomas and Sarah Jeremy lived when Dan Jones knocked on their door in early 1846, is still standing. The meeting place for Mormons in that area until Thomas and Sarah left in 1849, it is just outside the town of Llanybydder in Carmarthenshire. It is the scene of the confirmation and special blessing of Daniel Jones, the blindman, on 7 July 1846, the same day on which Sarah was also confirmed. A commemorative plaque was unveiled on "Glantrenfawr" on 19 June 2004 by some of his descendants: Susan Ashton, Alyssa Chard, Kathleen Macfarlane, and Ellen Van Orman. The inscription: In early 1846 Captain Dan Jones, a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), began to preach in Llanybydder. His first converts were Thomas and Sarah Jeremy, and during the next three years about eighty more converts to Mormonism from the Llanybydder area were baptized. Frequent meetings were held at Glantrenfawr, the Jeremy's home. The meetings ceased in February 1849 when the Jeremys and a number of other Mormon converts from the Llanybydder area emigrated to Salt Lake City in the Rocky Mountains. Their descendants place this plaque in honor of their memory. (June 19, 2004)
