October 1, 1881 began my journey to Wales.  To [Thompson] the first day and from there to [Minersville] and to [Milford] about 5 in the afternoon and started to [Salt Lake] about 6:00.  Arrived in the city at 10:00 a.m. where I spent my time with Ruth, my sister, and my uncle Joseph and aunt [Nancy] until the morning of the 6th. 

At 10:00 o’clock the morning of the first day of the Conference I had the privilege of attending the funeral of [Orson Pratt] and went to 12 meetings during the Conference and the meeting of the Priesthood on the night of the 6th, and I had a delightful time.  And we received valuable instruction.

 

Monday the 10th, went the Council House to have meetings with the twelve, and I was ordained by [Lorenzo Snow].  I received valuable instruction in this meeting and at 7:00 o’clock in the morning the next day, that is, Monday the 11th, I started on the train from the City and who was at the station [but] Aunt Mary, John Evans, my cousin, and his wife, Margret, and John Evans [Sgwers] and [Henry Lunt].  I arrived at Ogden successfully where I got to see [Eliza], my father’s sister, and [Lizzie] and two of my Aunt [Kitty’s] children.  Started from Ogden about 10:00 and in Omaha at about 3:00 p.m. on Thursday the 13th.  Plenty of fog and rain.  Arrived at Chicago a little after 3:00 p.m. on Friday the 14th.  Rained heavily the whole time.  Went to the hotel to stay the night and the next day the 15th until New York at 9:00 a.m. on Monday the 17th and went to the hotel and stayed the night until about 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the 18th when I boarded the ship to [Liverpool] and the name of the ship was Apswnar.  After traveling on the sea for a few hours I began to get sick.  I was the first to throw up and was unable to get to the table to eat for 4 or 5 days.  I arrived at [Liverpool] Sunday morning the 30th at about 8:00 o’clock where I stayed until twelve.  On the 31st I took the train to Merthyr where I arrived between 6 and 7 o’clock at night after a pleasant journey.

 

November 1 went to the Conference House to stay through the day and bathe and to the prayer meeting Monday night at Sister Williams’ house.  On the 2nd day I went to Cwmbach to [Edmund] Williams’ house where I received a hearty welcome and from there to the house of Llison, my uncle, the first man I knew in Wales, and from there to the house of Edward Morgan, and from there to the village of Aberdar to the house of [Betsy], grandmother’s sister and her two daughters, Elisa and Margret, where I received a hearty welcome, and from there back to Merthyr, where I stayed until about 9:00 o’clock Saturday night.  I had the privilege of seeing Brother Evans and Thomas and [Bowen].  And I felt better even though Sister Harmon was like a mother to me.  At about 11:00 o’clock I went with [Bowen] to the Riley Inn to sleep.  Sunday, the 6th, at 11:00 a.m. went to the Council where I felt good.  I had a chance to teach the Saints [word is blotted but appears to be “Saints”], and at two I preached.  At six Bowen and I went to the Riley Inn to sleep.

 

Monday, the 6th [he must mean the 7th].  Arose from my bed healthy and feel good [literally “comfortable”], and from there to the Conference House where I spent the day reading, and in the afternoon I went with John Bowen to [Cefncoedcymmar] to preach at 7:00 o’clock and from there to the Riley Inn to sleep.

Thursday, the 8th, I arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the Conference house and received half a crown from Brother Evans.  After that I went to buy an overcoat worth 1 and 6 and an umbrella worth____and a pair of shoes worth____and a satchel worth____and in the after I went with Bro. [Bowen] to preach at the house of John [Baxter] at Pencarn____at 7:00 o’clock in the evening and after the meeting [we] layed hands on Bro. [Baxter] and from there we went to the Riley Inn to sleep. 

 

Wednesday, the 9th, arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the Conference House where I spent the day around Merthyr and I bought a book and tools to write.  And from there to the Riley Inn to sleep and I paid the who half crown for 5 nights for a place to sleep.

 

Thursday, the 10th.  Arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the Conference House and at 12:00 o’clock I went with Bro. Evans to [Hirwaen] where we arrived successfully and had lunch at the house of Joseph [Rowlands] and from there to the house of uncle Rayel Haris and uncle John Evans, my cousin the son of Daniel Evans from [Hirwaen]; from there to the house of Thomas Jones, Tram Wey and from there to the house of William Price and found a pleasant place and a place to sleep [for] myself and brother Evans.

 

Friday, the 11th.  Arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of Rees [Prive] and from there to Swansea and to the house of John James and from there to the house of John [Nash] where I received a hearty welcome and was very comfortable.

 

Saturday, the 12th.  Arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and spent a pleasant day.  I went to see the market and truly I had the privilege of seeing the [Harman’s] and had a delightful time and from there to the house of [Nash] to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 13th.  Arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the Council and after this to the 2:00 o’clock meeting at to the 6:00 o’clock meeting and I preached three times and had a wonderful time and to the house of [Nash] to sleep.

 

Monday, the 14th.  Arose from bed healthy and feeling good and spent 3 days with John [Nash] and [Sarah] Ann and at night [there was] a concert and from there to the “Ty Melin” [Mill House (an inn?)] to sleep and paid 6 pence for my place. 

 

Tuesday, the 15th, arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of John [Mathews] where I received a hearty welcome and they were glad to see me and I was glad to see them and I received a place to sleep with them.

 

Wednesday, the 16th.  I arose from bed healthy and feeling good and spent the day writing and then I went to sleep.

 

Thursday, the 17th.  Arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of Mary, the sister of aunt [Nancy] and from there to the house of many in Treboeth and back to the house of the [Mathews] to sleep.

 

Friday, the 18th.  Arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to Pentre-gerthan to the house of John’s daughter and others from there to John’s house to sleep.

 

Saturday, the 19th.  Arose from bed healthy and feeling good and to the [Neath] and called on several old friends on the way and to the house of [George Lang] and from there to the Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 20th, arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and paid 9 pence for room and from there with Brother Lang to [Melingyrddan] and from there to Aberafan to the meeting and from there to the house of Philip Williams to sleep.

 

Monday, the 21st, arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and from there to Cwmavon to see some of my old friends and back to the house of Philip to sleep.

 

Tuesday, the 22nd, arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and from there to Brin where I saw a big change and back to Phillip’s house to sleep.

 

Wednesday, the 23rd, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of henry iwman in Felingyrddan and from there to the house of Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Thursday, the 24th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and paid 9 pence for my place and from there to the house of henry iwman and the houses of Williams and hisman and Ester Jones and to the Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Friday, the 25th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and paid a shilling for my place and from there to the house of Bro. Lang where I read the Star [Millenial Star] and from there to the house of the Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 27th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of iwman and to the two o’clock meeting and at six at which Bro. Evans and I had a good time and to the Angor Inn to sleep and paid six pence.

 

Monday, the 28th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of [Yoman] and from there to the house of Thomas Davis, Cwmavon, and to the house of David _____ and to the house of Thomas Davis to sleep.

 

Tuesday, the 29th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to several places and to Aberavon and back to the house of Thomas Davis to sleep where I got room and board cheap.

 

Wednesday, the 30th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to glingorwg and to the house of David Lewis and to sleep in the house of David Morgan.

 

Thursday, December 1st, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and we took our leave of each other – myself to Llwyni and Evans to Merthyr.  I arrived at Llwyni and [went] to the house of the daughter of tin ton and from there to the house of Betsi Thomas from Cwmavon and she gave two shillings to me and to the house of Thomas David to sleep, and I paid six pence for my room.

 

Wednesday, the 2nd, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of William Thomas and to the house of William Evans and from there to the house of Heny iwman to [Neath]and to the Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Saturday, the 3rd, arose from bed healthy and feeling good 9 pence for my lodging and from there to the house of iwman and from there to Ebrwn Edwin Harmon langatwg to [Llangatwg (also known as Cadoxton-juxta-Neath)] where Robert Evans and I conversed about many things and from there to Skwen to sleep and paid six pence for my room.

 

Sunday, the 4th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of Brother Lang and from there to Felingyrddan Melingyrddan to receive a bit of counsel and have a meeting at 2:00, that is a meeting of the Saints and a preaching meeting at 6:00 and received six pence from sister [Eastman] and to [Skewen] to sleep and paid six pence for my room.

 

Monday, the 5th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and to Lang’s and from there to the house of John [Mathews] and stayed over night.

 

Tuesday, the 6th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of John James, Swansea, and from there to the house of John Nach to sleep.

 

Wednesday, the 7th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to [Casllwchwr (also known as houghor)] to see and visit Oedran my relatives and went to sleep at the house of Mrs. Fransis where I received a room for nothing.

 

Thursday, the 8th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to [Pontarddulais] to the house of W. Hughes and from there to Cergelli where I was welcomed and received a place to sleep.

 

Friday, the 9th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and spent the day writing and reading and then out to oidrau and received a place to sleep.

 

Saturday, the 10th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and received my room for free and from there to the house of John James to Swansea and to the hosue of W. Williams to sleep for free.

 

Sunday, the 11th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from the house of John James and from there to the Council where I received my appointment to preside over the Swansea District.  And to the two o’clock meeting and to the six o’clock meeting, and after the meeting I was called to lay hands on Bro. Haben’s child and I gave the blessing.  And to Williams’ house to sleep.

 

Monday, the 12th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and [went] around to the meeting houses of the Saints and to the prayer meeting in the evening and to the house of Williams to sleep, myself and Harmon and Evans.

 

Tuesday, the 13th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and around to the Saint’s houses and from there to the house of Williams to sleep for free.

 

Wednesday, the 14th, arose from my bed healthy and feeling good.  After about a week of fine weather and now rain, and after eating breakfast to buy a suit of clothes worth two pounds and two shillings and took them to the tailor to have them made and from there to the house of John Matho to sleep.

 

Thursday, the 15th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there around to the houses of the Saints and received from Bro. Watts one shilling and 10 pence and after lunch went to pay 12 shillings to argyws and from there to the meeting in the evening and from there to John Matho’s to sleep.

 

Friday, the 16th, arose healthy and feeling good and raining in the evening to the house of iwam to the meeting and after meeting I layed hands on Sister iwam and the same nigh received 6 pence from Bro. iwam and from there to the Angor to sleep.

 

Saturday, the 17th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and paid 9 pence for my lodging; raining and from there to Melingyrddan and from there to Aberavon to the house of Sister [Richards] and to the house of Mrs. Davis to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 18th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the houses of the old Saints in Cwmavon and back to the house of Sister [Richards] to the two o’clock meeting and the six o’clock meeting and to the house of Mrs. [Davis] to sleep.

 

Monday, the 19th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and paid 12 pence for our lodging and from there to the market and paid 11 pence; and from there to the house of Yoman and to the meeting and from there to the [Angor] and paid 9 pence for a place to sleep.

 

Tuesday, the 20th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to Felingyrdan and from there to the house of Thomas Thomas, Llansamlet, where I had a bit of a debate with one of the Josephs' And from there to the house of Mary ty isha and from there to the house of Thomas Griffith and from there to the house of John David to sleep with Thomas [Griffith].

 

Thursday, the 22nd, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there around to Brygrov and to [Treforis (a town near Swansea)] to the house of Ann Rees and to the house of Thomas Lewis where I had ________  cake and from there to the house of Bro. James to town and from there to the meeting and to the house of John Matho to sleep.

 

Friday, the 23rd, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of James down town _____ and from there to the house of Haben and from there to the house of Nash to sleep.

 

Saturday, the 24th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of James down town and from there around to the house of two of the Saints and to sleep at the house of John Matho.

 

Sunday, the 25th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there to the house of Alma Wats and from there with Wats and Habn around to the houses of the Saints as a teacher and form there to the house of Wats to lunch and to the two o’clock meeting and to the six o’clock meeting and from there to the house of Mister Denis to sleep.

 

Monday, the 26th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and paid 9 pence for my lodging and from there to the house of Abnego Williams to Ferestfach and from there to the meeting down town to the prayer meeting and from there to the house of Mister Dinis to sleep with Davis and Harmon. 

 

Tuesday, the 27th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good and from there Davis and I to the house of Par for breakfast and from there to the house of James to request my clothes and borrow 10 shillings and 20 [pence] from Davis and to the house of James in the evening where Moroni Wats to write a letter for me to my wife and children and from there to the house of Denis to sleep.

 

Wednesday, the 28th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good paid 6 pence for my lodging and from there to Llansamlet, Davis and I, to the house of [Picket] to eat lunch and from there to John David and from there to the house of Lang to eat supper and from there to the house of Mary Davis to sleep.

 

Thursday, the 29th, arose from my bed healthy and feeling good and paid 6 pence.  Fine morning and from there to the house of Lang for breakfast and from there to the house of [Newhamms?] to eat lunch and from there to the house of Ester Jones and to the Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Friday, the 30th, arose from bed healthy and feeling good.  Fine morning and paid 9 pence for my lodging and from there to the house of (?) Williams to eat breakfast and set to pictures one to Jene and one to Cathrine and to see [Lucy] the sister of Gweny Jones and to the house of (?) Williams to supper and to the house of Newhams to the meeting and after the meeting laid hands on sister Newhams and received 6 pence [from] Brother Newham and from there to Skwen to sleep.

 

Saturday, the 31st, arose, etc. and from there to the house of Lang to breakfast and from there to Llansamlet and to [Treforys] to the house of James down town and to the house of Par to get a letter from town and [to the] house of Sister Lewis to lay hands on Sister hiwer and to the house of Mr. Dennis to sleep.

 

Sunday, Jan. 1, 1882, arose, etc.  A wet morning until noon and to the house of Sister Lewis to breakfast and from there to the council of the branch and to the house of James to eat lunch and to the two o’clock meeting and to the house of Alma Wats to tea and from there to the six o’clock meeting and to the house of Mr. Dennis to sleep.

 

Monday, the 2nd, arose, etc.  A wet morning and took my morning meal with the family of the house and from there to the house of Fred [Picket] to lunch and from there to the house of Sister Lewis to tea and from there to the concert and to the house of Mr. Dennis to sleep.

 

Tuesday, the 3rd, arose etc., and took my morning meal with [them] there and paid and 4 pence for my room, that is 3 nights, and from there to the house of James and put on my clothes and from there to the house of W. [Picket] and from there to Skwen to sleep.

 

Wed., the 4th, arose, etc. and from there to the house of Lang to breakfast and from there to the house of nowams and from there to the house of Williams to write and from there to Aberavon to the house of Sister Richards and to the houses of the old Saints and to the house of Mrs. Davis to sleep.

 

Thurs., the 5th, arose, etc., and to the house of James to breakfast and from there to Cwmavon to the house of Gwidu? And from there to the house of Newhams and to the house of Esman and to the Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Fri., the 6th, arose, etc., and paid __?__ 9 pence for my room and form there to the house of W.___ Williams to breakfast and from there to the house of Newhams to write two letters one to my uncle and on to John Thomas, Llanelly.  And to the evening meeting and to Skwen to sleep. 

 

Saturday, the 7th, arose, etc., and paid 6 __?__ pence for my room and from there to the house of Lang to breakfast and from there to the house of James down town ____ to lunch and received a letter from Merthyr containing ____ from Evans and from there to the house of Sister Lewis to lay hands on Sister hywet [?] and to the house of Mr. Dennis to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 8th, arose, etc., raining heavily throughout the day.  To the council in the morning without breakfast and to lunch with Parcaws [?] and to the two o’clock meeting and to the six o’clock meeting and to the house of James to lay hands on him and to the house of Mr. Dennis to sleep.

 

Monday, the 9th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast with Mrs. Dennis and from there around to the house of the Saints to collect the rent _____ of the room?) or the tithing and received two pounds from the Post Office and 4 shillings and 10 pence [from the] presidency and received 3 shillings from John James, money for the poor, and to the meeting at six o’clock and from there to the house of James to lay hands on Morony Wats and to the house of Mr. Dennis to sleep.

 

Tuesday, the 10th, arose, etc., ate breakfast and from there to the house of James and from there to Fforestfach and from there back to the house of James to eat lunch and from there to the Ffoxol to pay the “Renty y Rwm” and to the house of [Howells] ______ who died at 1:00 o’clock and from there back to the house of James and gave 2 shillings and 7 pence to _____ James to keep for (from?) tithing and to the house of Mr. Dennis to sleep.

 

Wed., the 11th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and paid bobo two shillings for my room that is four nights and food from there to the house of holen and to Treforis to the house of Thomas Lewis to lunch and from there to the house of Samuel and from there to the house of Lang and from there to the house of Mrs. Davis to sleep.

 

Thurs., the 12th, arose, etc., and paid 6 pence for my lodging and from there to the house of Lang to breakfast and write and from there to the meeting and after the meeting laid hands on sister Newhams and from there to the _______ to sleep.

 

Fri., the 13th, arose, etc., and paid 10 ½ for my lodging and from there to the house of Williams to breakfast and from there to Bryn to the house of Thomas Samwel to eat lunch and from there to Llwiny to the house of David Thomas and to the house of W. Thomas to supper and testified of the truth [to] some women and from there to the house of D. Thomas to sleep.

 

Saturday, the 14th, arose, etc., and paid ____ 6 pence for my lodging and from there to the house of W. Evans to breakfast and from there to Aberavon to the house of Sister Richard to supper and to the house of Miss Davis to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 15th, arose, etc., and from there to the house of Richard to read until 2:00 o’clock and at 2:30 we had a meeting of the Saints and at 6:30 a preaching meeting and to the house of M. Davis to sleep.

 

Monday, the 16th, arose, etc., and paid ___ shillings for two nights and gave ___?___ 18 to Sister Richard to pay the rent of her house and from there to the house of James to breakfast and from there to the town to the house of James and to the house of Williams to see the letter from Evans and from there to the house of Ms. Dennis to sleep.

 

Wed., the 18th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and from there around to the houses of the Saints and bathed at the house of James and from there to the house of John Lewis and arranged to hold a council of the branch after the Thursday night meeting and to the house of Mr. Dennis to sleep.

 

Thurs., the 19th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and from there to Llansamlet and from there to the house of J. Halen __?__ and to the House of James and to the House of Par and from there to the meeting and to the house of Ms. Dennis to sleep. 

 

Fri., the 20th, arose, etc., and paid ____ 18 for three nights and three breakfasts and three suppers and from there to Llanelli and on the way bought ____.  3 ½ of food and to the house of John Evans to supper and sleep.

 

Saturday, the 21st, arose, etc., and from there to [Kidwelly] and took the train to [Carmarthen] and paid ____ a shilling and 11 pence and 10 and from there to Lwin y Filltr Fach to get food and where I got some cheese like back home and a comfortable place to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 22nd, arose, etc., and spent the day singing and reading and conversing and slept there. 

 

Monday, the 23rd, arose, etc., and from there to __?__ Carmarthen and through [Abergwili] and to Nantgaredig and to the house of two elderly women at Pont y fer where we had food and a place to sleep and a good welcome.

 

Tuesday, the 24th, arose, etc., and from there to the house of John Thomas to Lampeter where I received a good welcome and after eating lunch and reading the Star and the Sermon of John Taylor from the Jornal went to a neighboring house to sleep.

 

Thursday, the 26th, arose, etc., and to the house of John Thomas to breakfast and lunch and laid hands on the head of his mother to bless her and laid hands on the head of John [and blessed him] that he would receive health and received half a crown from them and from there to Penwern where we had a strange time with Josephites and a place to stay that night. 

 

Friday, the 27th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and received _____ a shilling and from there to the station to go to Carmarthen and paid ____ a shilling and 11 pence and to Lwin y filltr fach __?__ to lunch and supper and stayed the night. 

 

Saturday, the 28th, arose, etc., and from there to Llanelli and raining throughout the day and after getting 17 fine days and to the house of John Evans to supper and from there to the station to take the train to Swansea and paid a shilling and one pence and to the house of James and to the house of Mr. Dennis to supper and to sleep. 

 

Sunday, the 29th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and from there to the Foyol and back to the house of Sister Lewis and to the two o’clock meeting and at six and to the house of Mr. Dennis to supper and sleep.

 

Monday, the 30th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and from there to the house of W. Williams to give two shillings to Sister [Williams] to get food and from there to Nash and from there to the meeting and from there to the house of Dennis to supper and to sleep.

 

Tuesday, the 31st, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and paid 18 for three nights and from there to the house of James and from there to Llansamlet to the house of W. [Pickett] to lunch and from there to Skwen to sleep.

Wed., February 1st, arose, etc., and paid pobo 6 pence for my lodging and to the house of Lang to breakfast where I met Bowen and Thomas and we had a delightful time and from there to the house of [Newhams] to the meeting and to the Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Thursday, 2nd, arose, etc., and paid pobo 9 pence for my lodging and to the house of Williams to breakfast to write and eat lunch and to the house of Esther Jones and to the house of Lang and ordained [set apart] Sister Lang to be the 1st counselor to Sister Esman and from there to Skwen to sleep.

 

Friday, the 3rd, arose, etc., and paid pobo 6 pence and to the house of Eiga, the daughter of David Robert to breakfast and from there to Treforis to the house of T. Lewis to lunch and from there to the house of James and to the house of [Mrs.] Dennis to sleep.

 

Saturday, the 4th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and to the house of Davis and to the house of [Davis] and to the Foxol and to Ebrwn Bowen and Thomas and back to the house of Par to get the Star and a letter from John Evans and from there to hire a room for Carinbon to preach and to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and sleep.

 

Sunday, the 5th, arose, etc., ate breakfast and from there to the Foxol and from there to the Council and a meeting of the Saints and to the house of Sister Hardy to tea and lunch and from there to baptize [Hardy] and Morgan and James.  Alma Wats was the one who performed the baptism and after the baptism [we went] back to the house of Hardy to confirm Morgan and James and from there to the meeting and Hardy was confirmed by me.  And to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and sleep.

 

Monday, the 6th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and fro there to the house of James to get the “Rent y Rwm” _____ and from there to pay the Rent to Sister Porcaws and to the house of W. Williams to lunch and to the house of Par [to] tea and from there to the prayer meeting and to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper an to sleep. 

 

Tuesday, the 7th, arose, etc., and ate b. and paid pobo two shillings for 4 nights and food and from there to the house of James and from there to the house of John Mathews to sleep.

 

Wednesday, the 8th, arose, etc., and ate b. and from there to the house of John Evnas to show the letter to the house of Lang to tea and read the Jornal and form there to the house of Newhams to the meeting and from there to the house of Angor to sleep.

James to breakfast and conversed about many things and from there to Cwmbach to the house of Lison Mathews to lunch and to the house of Edmund Williams where I saw many ______ for the purpose of marrying Sarah and to the house of Edward Morgan to sleep. 

 

Saturday, the 11th, arose, etc., and from there to Mt. Ash to the house of Father John Taylor and from there across the mountain to Merthyr to the house of Sister Harmon and in the evening Bro. Corinton came and after _______ I went to the Riley Inn to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 12th, arose, etc., and to the Conferance House to breakfast and from there to the meeting at 10:00 and the meeting at 2:00 and to the 6:00 o’clock meeting and to the Riley Inn to sleep.

 

Monday, the 13th, arose, etc., and paid pobo shilling form my room and to the Conference House to breakfast and received two pounds and I got 5 shillings from the presidency and I purchased a pound’s worth of treatises and from there to the station to go to Swansea nd paid pboo two shillings and 9 pence and ____ I came to the house of James where I received a letter from home and after that to the meeting and from there to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and to sleep.

 

Tuesday, the 14th, arose, etc. and ate breakfast and _____ the bills and ____ to town and to hire the crier to proclaim the meeting which Cirinton would be preaching, to whom I paid a shilling and after that I bathed and at 5:00 p.m. Bro. Corinton brought the brethren and at 7:00 to the meeting where we had a pleasant time and from there to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and to a neighboring house to sleep.

 

Wed., the 15th, arose, etc. and paid 9 pence for my lodging and from there to the house of Davis for breakfast and back to the house of Mrs. Dennis to see the brethren off and from there to the house of Nash to lunch and ______ two letters from North Ogden, one from Aunt [Lydia] ______ and one from the son of [Sarah Ann] and from there I and Nash to William Morgan, the oldest son of Evan Morgan where I had a good time and from there to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and sleep.

 

Thursday, the 16th, arose, etc., and ate breakfast and from there to the house of James to read two Deseret News where I saw an account of the Conference at Parowan and to the house of Sister Hardy to lunch and from there to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and to a neighboring house to sleep.

 

Friday, the 17th, arose, etc., and paid pobo six pence for my loding and to the house of Mrs. Dennis to breakfast and paid a shilling for two nights and seven meals and from there to the house of M. James Haben and laid hands on Sister Haben to receive health and she testified to us that she was better and from there to the house of Lang and from there to the meeting at the [Newham] house where we met Thomas R. Jones and to the Angor Inn to sleep.

 

Sat. the 18th, arose, etc., and paid pobo 9 pence for my room and from there to the hosue of Williams to breakfast and to write and to eat lunch and from there to Aberavon to the house of Sister [Richards] to supper and to the house of Mrs. Devis to sleep.

 

Sunday, the 19th, arose, etc., and to the house of Sister [Richard (s)] to breakfast and after that I and Jones went to Cwmavon to invite some to the meeting and back to the meeting of the Saints and the meeting at 6:00 where I preached and Davis and Jones.  In that meeting a man by the name of Wm. Treharn came to cause a bit of a stir and to the house of Mrs. Davis to sleep and paid pobo shilling for my lodging.

 

Monday, the 20th, arose from bed etc., and ate breakfast and paid pobo shilling to sister Richert for my food and from there to Swansea across the beach and to the house of Porcaws ____ and from there to the house of James to lunch and to the house of Parr to get a Star and to the house of James to read it and to the prayer meeting and to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and to sleep.

 

Tuesday, the 21st, arose, etc., and ate B. and paid pobo a shilling for my lodging and my food and from there to the house of James and I [went] to Treboeth and he to Llanelly and to the house of Elisa, the daughter of Josi ___ to lunch and from there to the house of Martha, the daughter of David and [Betty] where I received a big welcome and to the house of Mary, the daughter of Ann Spenkin ____ where I received a big welcome and to the house of John Mathews to sleep.

 

Thursday, the 23rd, arose, etc., and ate b. and to the house of [Rachel] and Mary ____ to lunch and tea and spoke with her husband and her brother and her brother, John, about the Saints and to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and sleep.

 

Friday, the 24th, arose, etc., and ate b. and to the house of Sister Davis and to the house of James and from there to the house of William, the son of William Richerd and a daughter of John Lewis and from there to the house of Pargws to try to get him to attend his meeting(s) and to the house of Mrs. Dennis to supper and to sleep.
