BOOK TWO

Oct. 21, 1895  - Whitcombe Street, Aberdare, Glamorganshire, South Wales.  Account of Daniel E. Price.  His labors from this time on.

Today we took a rest after a good walk yesterday.  In the evening I took a walk around the park and on the way back I met Bro. Trehorne by Mr. John Lewis' house and he and his wife asked us to come in to have a cup of tea so we went in and there were two other gentlemen in the house by the names of Dan Davies & Evan Lewis from Aberaman.  They were both Josephites and so is Mr. John Lewis.  After supper they all joined together and brought up several accusations against the Latter Day Saints.  But by the help of the Lord they were conquered on every point that they brought forward and they had to give it up.  The only question that was asked them they failed to answer.  Mrssrs. Wm. and Isaac Dunn called to see us today and wanted us to write a consoling letter to their father about the death of their mother.

Oct. 22  - Aberdare.  Raining all day so we were obliged to stay indoors and we read the Star which was interesting.  So we put in the day reading and conversing on the gospel.

Oct. 23 -  Aberdare.  Cold day.  We marked and distributed 200 tracts on Monk Street.  One man asked me what tracts are they.  I told him that they were the Latter Day Saints tracts.  He said if they are as good as the former day Saints that they were good and not the same as the Brighamite Saints.  I told him that I represented those called the Brighamite Saints.  Then he looked at me as though I had horns on.  Then he said "I will read it and see what is in it."  Then we took a walk of 2 ½ miles to Cwmdare to see a Mrs. Palmer but we met her coming to Aberdare on business.  She invited us up some other day to see her.  We were a little disappointed but we had a grand view of Cwmdare and a pleasant walk.

Oct. 24 -  Aberdare.  Raining and cold.  Bro. Trehorne not very well so we were obliged to stay indoors.  I put in the day reading the Conference news and also the grand Eisteddfod news which was held in Salt Lake City.

Oct. 25 -  Aberdare.  Snow on the ground this morning.  Then rain.  I stayed indoors and read some of Orson Pratt's Works.  At 2 p.m. we took a walk of 3 miles to Cwmdare to see Mrs. Palmer.  She treated us very kind and told us to come again.  I also got a letter from home and all was well.

Oct. 26 -  Aberdare.  Cold morning with frost.  I wrote a letter home and sent some pencils for the children.  Also some for my Bro. John's children and in the afternoon I went to the park to see a match game of football between the club of Penarth and the Club of Aberdare.  The latter got away with the game 4 goals to one.

Oct. 27 -  Aberdare.  Fine morning.  Little snow on the ground so we took a walk over the mountain to Merthyr for meeting.  We went to Bro. Wm. Richards for dinner and they were all well.  So we left here for meeting at sister Williams' house and we had very good time.  The little room was full of saints.  After meeting Bro. Trehorne and myself called on Mrs. Reynolds and had good welcome and long gospel conversation with her and one of her sons.  We left here at 7 p.m. for Aberdare over the mountains.  We had good moon light.  The road was a little wet but we reached home in one hour and 45 min.

Oct. 28 -  Aberdare.  Stormy day so we stayed indoors all day.  I received 2 Deseret Newspapers from Bro. Nov. 3 -  Aberdare.  Fine day.  Bro. Trehorne and myself went to Hirwaun and we had a good meeting in the house of Bro. & Sister Jones.  We also called on Mr. Ed Evans and family and on our way back we called on Mr. Davis & family at Trecynon where we had good welcome and a long conversation on the gospel with Mr. Davies and wife and a welcome to come again anytime.

Nov. 13 -  Aberdare.  Raining some and between the showers we marked and distributed 250 tracts and had five gospel conversations at Robertstown.  The rest of the day was mostly taking in the great fair of Aberdare which was grand and I purchased two pair of dogs and one of cows in toys in memory of the old place.  In the evening I had a long conversation with Mr. Davis on the gospel in the market place.  I have met him there before.

Evans.  I have met him 2 or 3 times before and he has promised to come and see me at my lodgings but he has failed to come.  Until tonight I succeeded to get him to come.  Bro. Trehorne and myself had a long talk with him on the gospel and he seemed to be interested in what we said and we loaned him a book to take home with him.

Nov. 17 -  No. 1 Whitcombe St. Raining again this morning.  When I was in bed I thought I would get some news from home this morning.  So when I got up there was a parcel for me with a silk handkerchief in it for a birthday present from my wife.  Also a letter and they were all well.  They came exactly on the day.  At 11:30 a.m. bro. Trehorne and myself took a walk to Cwydare along the railroad to see Mrs. Pallmer & family and we were welcome and had a good time conversing on the gospel with her & sons & son in law and we left them some tracts to read and there was welcome to come again.

Nov. 18 -  Aberdare.  Fine day.  We marked & distributed 200 tracts in Aberdare, the most of them to a very low class of people, one man telling me if I did not have anything better than that to take it out of his house as he did not want it there.  I told him that it would not cost him anything.  He said take it out so I did and told him that I did not want to force it on him.  After we got through I wrote a letter home.
