Two sons of William Harman separately followed their father to Utah, one of which was William Harman Jr. also called Charles. He was born Dec 23, 1857, at Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, and spent his early years at Upper Glyn Mill, Merthyr. He moved with his family to Treorchy when he was 13. Two years after his mother's death in 1878, William Jr., at age 22, boarded the ship Wyoming, and joined his father in Utah. Charles (or William Jr.) lived with his father for several years, then acquired a house of his own across the alley from William Sr.'s family. He is included in the ward records alongside the other Harmans. Charles joined his brother Joseph and his father William Sr. on the crew that built the Salt Lake City temple. All three are included in the construction crew picture taken by Savage shortly before the temple's dedication. Charles remained single throughout his life and, after his father's death, worked for a quartz mining district in Colorado. After a brief time in Montana, Charles returned to Utah where he continued mining. In the end, however, he died at only 54 years on February 23, 1914. Charles or William Jr. lived most of his life in or near Salt Lake City but Harman family members were unaware that he returned to Utah. Though his half sisters resided nearby, during his last illness William Jr.'s physicians assumed he had no family in the area and his body was donated to the newly-formed University of Utah medical school. Later his remains were buried at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, the same cemetery where his father also lies.
