Emma Stedder Hodges - Patriarchal Blessing

Emma Stedder Hodges - Patriarchal Blessing

A blessings given by O. N. Liljenquest on the head of Emma Hodges, daughter of William Stedder and Rebecca Carter, born April 11, 1846, Penhow, Monmouthshire, England.

Sister Emma in the name of Jesus Christ and by virtue of the Holy Priesthood I seal upon you a Father’s and a Patriarchal blessing with the blessings of the chosen and faithful daughters of Abraham in this dispensation of the fullness of time, and you may drink freely of the fountain of eternal life, and be full of faith, hope, and charity, and the love of God dwell in your heart, and his peace in your habitation, and enjoy dreams and visions, and revelations of the Holy Spirit and live long upon the Earth, and be a blessing unto many souls both living and dead. You shall be like an Angel in the midnight hour in the sick chamber, and a joy in the homes of the poor and the afflicted. You shall be blessed with great faith, and in your basket and in your store and never lack for the comforts of life, and always have plenty to do good with and the more you do the more shall you have. And by and by thousands shall raise up and call you blessed, for you shall stand as a Savior unto many of your kindred that are dead. The Lord will open the way and you shall receive their names through the power of God. Thou art one of God’s elect, and thy name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Thou arr of the lineage of Ephraim and much shall be required of thee in the redemption of your dead, and great will be your reward in administering for them and [in] their stead.

Listen to the still small voice, listen to the still small voice and to your companion and you shall with [him] enjoy a fullness of all blessings. And [you shall] stand at the head of a numerous and ever increasing posterity and have the power to wash your garments white in the blood of the Lamb, and through your faith in your Redeemer, gain victory over sin, hell, and the grave, and shall with your companion, with the redeemed of your kindred and with your righteous posterity stand on Mount Zion in the morning of the first resurrection, arrayed in the Robes of Righteousness and wear a glorious crown. All of which seals and blessings I seal and ratify by virtue of my office through your faithfulness and seal you up unto Eternal life in the name of Jesus, even so, Amen.
