In his autobiography Jonah Evans declares that he was born "in a small farm house close by a small village called Thanwell near Carmarthen Town, Carmarthenshire, Wales". "Thanwell" is the Welsh pronunciation of "Thornwell", and "Thornwell" is the English translation of "Ffynnon-ddrain", the small village in question. Our thanks to Mr. John Elias from Carmarthen who provided this explanation. Jonah Evans was the brother of Mr. Elias's great-grandmother.

Geraint Bowen is the grandson of Frances Bowen Evans's brother Thomas Bowen. In 1995 there was a reunion for the descendants of Jonah Evans and Frances Bowen in Pocatello, Idaho. Their distant relative Geraint Bowen and his wife Zonia were the guests of honor.
